A regularly scheduled or one-time  top-to-bottom cleaning:

This entails high dusting for cobwebs with the fluffy duster, dusting all flat surfaces with a microfiber cloth and a dusting spray, vacuuming all floors and washing all hard floors with my favorite washing technique, which entails the use of a suitable cleaner mixed in warm water in a small bucket and a microfiber pad and mop pole.

Bathrooms: tubs, toilets, and sinks scrubbed and sanitized, mirrors windexed, floors vacuumed and washed by hand.

Kitchens: sinks, countertops, small appliances and the fronts, sides, and inside door of large appliances all washed. Top-to-bottom dusting, vacuuming and floor washing with special attention to sides and corners. Cabinet doors wiped down as appropriate.

Ceiling fans, laundry rooms, closets, stairs, and entryways all included. Linen-changing on request.

Here is Airbnb’s statement about paying a living wage:

When figuring out how much to pay your cleaner, ask yourself the following questions:

  • Are they self-employed? For cleaners who are self-employed, a minimum of $25 per hour is considered a living wage. They’re typically paid more than those who work for a company, because they pay for their own income taxes, days off, and travel to and from work. They may also pay for their own cleaning supplies.

Me, a self-employed professional in the business for 20 yrs, making house calls in my own vehicle and using all my own supplies and equipment, I charge $40/hr.

Over the phone or in person we can go over your housecleaning needs and discuss how many hours you might need and how frequently you would like service. I love to talk about cleaning! I use tried and true equipment and supplies, based on performance, scent, reliability. I thoroughly wash and dry my vacuum each evening.

What You Get For Your Money:

First off, let me say that I really like my first cleaning(s) to set the stage for all subsequent cleanings; that is, the first set of hours are going to be me cleaning your place for the first time, getting things as clean as they can possibly be.

If you haven’t had a cleaning lady before, or you haven’t had a house cleaning in awhile, or you haven’t had someone as meticulous and thorough as me, then this first cleaning is going to be a deep cleaning and will definitely take longer than future cleanings. I suggest to keep this in mind and plan for extra hours in the beginning. Now, if this is not practical or affordable at first, what we can do is each time I come, I will focus on a different area for deep cleaning until after a few weeks or months every inch of your place is perfect!

2 hours ($80): two hours is the typical time it takes to perfectly, expertly clean a one bedroom apartment or one floor of a typical house. In this time I can generally get all vacuuming, floor washing, dusting, cleaning of one kitchen, cleaning of one bathroom, and any hallways accomplished.

3 hours ($120): three hours is the typical time it takes to expertly clean a small house with a few bedrooms, say, or two floors.

4 hours ($160): four hours is the typical time it takes to expertly clean a larger house or a typical smaller house with the addition of changing all the bed linens or washing and putting away laundry.

5 hours ($200): five hours is the typical time it takes to expertly clean a really large house or a larger Airbnb rental home which requires room turnovers for multiple beds and washing and drying of towels for multiple people, and maybe the addition of doing dishes or extra kitchen tasks.

Keep in mind, every home is unique and the time it takes to clean depends not just on the size of the place, but also on the time between cleanings and other factors such as number of pets, whether residents remove shoes, where residents eat food, whether windows are frequently open, whether or not the home is on a high traffic road, and more!
